Lundy is a 400 foot granite outcrop in the Bristol Channel with tremendous views of sea and mainland. Lundy is an English island in the Bristol Channel. It forms part of the district of Torridge in the county of Devon. About 3 miles (5 kilometres) long and ⁄ mi (1 km) wide, Lundy has had a long and turbulent. Designated the first Marine Conservation Area, Lundy offers opportunities for diving and seal watching. Lundy is financed, administered and maintained by the Landmark Trust. Lundy Island is famous for its bird population, in fact the name Lundy is Norse for Puffin Island, so named because of the puffins that call the island home. Lundy has the largest single island seabird. Lundy is a small island, just 5 km (3 miles) long by 1.2 km (0.75 miles) wide, in the outer Bristol Channel, approximately 11 miles off the nearest point of north Devon (Hartland Point).

Sitting at the meeting point of the Bristol Channel and the Atlantic Ocean, Lundy Island has a unique array of wildlife, including a seal colony and puffins, which have become a Lundy island symbol. Lundy lies where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Bristol Channel and there is nothing between this granite outcrop and America. It is a place apart, peaceful and unspoilt, where the visitor can enjoy such. Lundy is an island in the Bristol Channel between England and Wales on the west coast of Britain. It attracts many visitors, both for its peaceful surroundings and for scientific research. This was my first trip to Lundy and it didn’t disappoint. I loved its remote natural beauty and it is rare these days to be able to visit a place which is unspoilt where wildlife is a priority.
