Amparo means ‘shelter’ or ‘safe haven’ in Spanish and provides support for anyone affected by suicide. Support can be provided one-to-one, to family groups, groups of colleagues or peers – whatever is. Amparo is completely confidential and can provide short-term or longer-term support, depending on what you feel it is you need – we are guided by you. Support can be provided one-to-one, to family. This short video explains the local and national picture on suicide, as well as sharing what Amparo service provides, where it is available in the UK and how to access individually tailored support. In 2015, Listening Ear launched Amparo, one of the first suicide Postvention services in the country.
